Our premium will expire end of this month. Needless to say, we have to renew and pay the normal routine every six months.
It depends, other people likes to pay on a monthly basis but in our case I want it to be done just twice a year and by doing this, I have that discounted rate for paying lump sum. Not that much of a discount but it lessen one of my worries in paying all those other monthly bills.
Anyway, I'm holding on to our renewal with our agent, need to do some comparison survey or search hoping we can get a lesser rate compared to what we are paying right now.
Well, that was my tasked yesterday. I called Progressive, Geico, Farmer's, State and AARP.
Our lifestyle changed when my Hubby resumed his post as a retiree. If his at home 99% of the day, 24/7, so...it means less driving and mileage being put up to his stick shift truck. His toy is very old already just like him...

but still worthy and a great help to us. It's the first vehicle that I touched and learned my driving skills.
I remember those days when Hubby took me to the country road so I can start my driving lesson. Mind you, it's an old 1993 Ford Ranger stick shift truck. I had a pillow to sit since I'm a midget as you may all know....wink! You may wonder why my Hubby didn't buy me an automatic vehicle for me to practice, even just for a surplus? Simply because we can't afford and Hubby likes to see me shifting all the different gears in his stick shift truck. We had so much fun with my training. Tears and happiness were just the flavor during those hard works.According to the saying, "No pain, no gain." I gained some triceps and biceps in my arms for three consecutive months three times a week. Practicing how to drive is a very challenging job and it is a privilege.
Anyway, after saving all our pennies and dimes, on my 4th month of training...Hubby bought me a surplus automatic Skylark Buick vehicle. Tell you what...it was less stress driving, very easy to navigate, don't have to use both of my legs and not too much pressure on my right hand.
But you know what? That old truck of my Hubby plays an important role during my first year in the land of the free. It was in 2000 that I abused and almost wreaked my Hubby's toy. Time flies, this great helper of ours is serving us for 15 years now. That's how old we are...Too bad, I never touch or attempt to drive that puppy after I learned how to drive in an automatic vehicle.
Anyhow, I already have the quotes from different insurance company except from AARP.
What is AARP? Those are just for people who are 55 and alive. My Hubby's qualified to join though since he's already a senior. I've heard AARP has an affordable car insurance pricing intended for seniors. I called them yesterday though but need to go on details where Hubby can answer all the questions.
So far, since Hubby has an old bit up car, a senior, retired and don't drive that far on his Ford Ranger, we got a pretty much lesser quotes compared to what we are paying right now.
Yes, we're trying to cut down some of our expenses as much as possible. Not that we have to shutdown totally but just trying to eliminate those unnecessary expenses. Why pay more if we can get a better lesser rate? I'm just being realistic with our lifestyle. That's how I enjoy life.. sticking to my principle, just being me. It's my choice...
Oh, oh! It's the weekend, GUYS! It's FLY Day...enjoy and have a blessed weekend.
